The Between Shores collection combines vintage cigarette cards with contemporary hand-drawn intervention. Each work begins with an original cigarette card selected for its maritime imagery - coastal views, harbours, sailing vessels, and scenes of life at sea. These historical fragments are mounted onto A4 heavyweight paper, creating a clean surface around which a new narrative can unfold.
Hand-painted elements in cobalt blue acrylic extend beyond the edges of the card, building out open seascapes and suggested movement across water. Sailboats drift through the composition, shoreline details emerge, and gestural marks imply gusts of wind and current. In some works, a red buoy appears as a focal point within the expanse, punctuating the blue with a navigational signal and introducing a moment of stillness within the wider movement of the sea.
